eurolanden Second European Multidisciplinary meeting on Urological Cancers organised in Barcelona eurolanden photoIn November 2007, the European Association of Urology (EAU), the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) and the European Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ESTRO) initiated what is now considered a landmark gathering of cancer specialists from various disciplines. With the participation of affiliated medical professionals, practitioners and representatives from the industry, the 1st European Multidisciplinary Meeting on Urological Cancers (EMUC), held in Barcelona, provided proof that we can benefit from closer cooperation in order to facilitate new research and improve the treatment of urological malignant disorders.

We will return to Barcelona for the 2nd European Multidisciplinary Meeting on Urological Cancers (EMUC) from 26 to 29 November 2009, not only to build on the success of our initial meeting, but more importantly to identify the areas where further collaboration is needed. EAU, ESMO and ESTRO are again co-organising this important initiative which represents our efforts to harness the benefits of synergies across disciplines.

With the objective to facilitate multidisciplinary approaches that aim to optimise diagnostic, therapeutic and preventional interventions directed towards malignant disorders in the urogenital tract, the 2nd EMUC Meeting will feature presentations on the latest research from selected, theme-based translational and clinical abstracts, as well as related scientific and educational sessions. The 2nd EMUC Meeting also offers an opportunity for clinically relevant, in-depth discussions of emerging research results and clinical data that will impact treatment now and in the near future.
