Welch Allyn, a leading global provider of medical products and solutions, will showcase its newest suite of devices that capture, format and transmit vital signs from the point of care to electronic medical records (EMRs) next week at the 2010 Medica International Trade Fair and Congress in Dusseldorf, Germany. In addition to introducing a flexible monitor that provides easy access to patient data at the bedside, and offering visitors hands-on demonstrations of its new vital signs documentation system and handheld digital blood pressure device, the company’s state-of-the-art display in Hall 9, Booth E15, complete with touch-screen kiosks and tablet computers, will add a high-tech dimension to the interactive demos.

The company will formally introduce its first comprehensive bedside monitoring solution on day one of the expo. Designed to enhance clinical decision-making and improve patient safety, the new monitor offers easy-to-use features and options that provide clinicians with access to the information they need to provide the best possible patient care.
One of the outstanding features of the monitor is a 15-inch color LCD display—the largest in its class—with a 170 degree vertical and horizontal viewing angle that allows clinicians to see patient data clearly from anywhere in the hospital room. Additionally, its compact size, including a footprint that is only three inches deep, means it can be placed almost anywhere without disruption. The device will be available in markets outside the United States and Canada.
The company will also showcase three of its newest products at Medica 2010, including the Welch Allyn Connex®, the Welch Allyn Connex® ProBP™ 3400 Electronic Vitals Documentation (EVD) System, and co-branded Health o meter® Professional Scales.
The Welch Allyn Connex Electronic Vitals Documentation System is an all-in-one solution that electronically captures and transmits patient data to an EMR, enabling improvements in patient safety and clinical decision making and reducing risk to facilities. The system provides clinicians in non-critical care settings with immediate access to accurate vital signs anytime, anywhere. It includes the Connex® Vital Signs Monitor—now available with both Welch Allyn SureTemp® Plus thermister oral/axillary/rectal and Braun ThermoScan® PRO 4000tympanic ear thermometry options, Accessory Cable Management Stand, Connex Vitals Management Software, and the new Welch Allyn Partners in Care ServicesSM program that provides personalized support and installation.

Welch Allyn co-branded Health o meter® Professional Scales will allow Welch Allyn to offer for the first time a line of high-quality professional medical weight scales as part of its existing portfolio of vital signs devices aimed at giving frontline care providers quick and accurate ways to assess, diagnose and treat patients in low-acuity settings. In turn, Pelstar, LLC, which holds the number one market position in the U.S. for professional medical scales, will now have the opportunity to expand into various high-growth international markets by leveraging the wide-reaching distribution channels of Welch Allyn. Health o meter Professional Scales have been distributed by Welch Allyn in Latin America for nearly 20 years, and both companies expect the enhanced partnership to allow for greater opportunities in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia.
